What Is the Best Toothbrush and Toothpaste to Use?
We recommend using a soft to medium bristled toothbrush and make sure you don’t brush too hard as you could damage your teeth and gums. With the proper technique, you should be able to get your teeth nice and clean without using excessive pressure. Make sure you brush for at least two minutes and pay attention while you brush, so you don’t miss out any areas. It doesn’t matter if you use a manual or electric brush as both will work perfectly well when used correctly. Use fluoride toothpaste and spit out the excess but don’t rinse as this will help maximise the efficacy of fluoride.
What Is a Good Daily Oral Hygiene Routine?
At a minimum, you should brush at least twice a day, preferably when you get up and just before you go to bed. The reason for brushing at these times is because your mouth is drier overnight as you produce less saliva. A drier mouth is a good environment for bacteria to thrive. Removing the bacteria that build up during the day, as well as any particles of food will help ensure your mouth is as clean as possible before you go to sleep. Brushing first thing in the morning is a great way to freshen your mouth and your breath.
How Often Should I Floss?
You must floss once a day as it’s vital for healthy gums and it’s best to do this last thing at night. If you struggle with flossing, please ask us for help. We can suggest different techniques to try or even different tools such as interdental brushes.
