While many cosmetic options exist, few of them provide the dramatic results of dental veneers. Veneers are thin restorations that cover the front of teeth, enhancing their appearance by improving the size, shape, length and colour of the teeth.
Veneers are versatile and can improve a single tooth or the entire smile, depending on the patients’ goals and ideas for their results. Our Toothsavers Dentists team recommends a consultation with one of our dentists to discuss all available options.
Smile Design Cosmetic Dentistry
Before creating cosmetic restorations, our dentists will design the smile digitally, as part of the planning process. Our precise approach to creating beautiful smiles means that our patients will enjoy optimum comfort and function as well as impressive results.
For smile makeovers, most patients opt for 8 to 16 veneers, giving patients a celebrity-worthy smile.
Composite Bonded Veneers
When patients have a single tooth that lacks uniformity or looks out of place, our dentists can often use composite, the same material used in tooth-coloured fillings, to hand-sculpt a veneer in a single appointment.
They will match the shade of the veneer to the surrounding teeth for a seamless look.
Single Visit Chairside Veneers
Our dentists are skilled in the art of in-house restorative dentistry using CEREC technology. Like same-day dental crowns, we can design aesthetic ceramic veneers in one appointment using CAD/CAM (computer-aided design and manufacture) technology.
Rather than traditional impressions, we use 3-D scanning software to capture the shape of the teeth. This data uploads into our ceramic milling machine, which is much like a 3-D printer, and creates each veneer according to the specifications by the dentist.
Each veneer will be coloured and shaded for natural-looking results. The dentist will permanently bond each veneer to the teeth and make any final adjustments for a perfect fit.
Because we eliminate the need for an outside lab, CEREC veneers are often the most affordable choice.
Lab-Made Porcelain Veneers
In some cases, patients opt to have customised porcelain veneers created by our skilled local technicians. Porcelain veneers boast greater translucency and work well for patients without deep or dark stains on their natural tooth structure. Because porcelain veneers require the use of a lab, treatment takes a bit longer as we wait for the final restorations to arrive in our dental clinic.
Caring for Your Veneers
Because veneers require the removal of some of the enamel covering the teeth, veneers are a lifelong commitment. Taking care of them by avoiding damage caused by chewing ice or hard candy will help you get the most out of your investment.
If you opted for veneers because of worn down teeth, wearing a nightguard can protect your veneers from damage and fractures caused by a bruxism habit.
